FAQs

Questions we get asked daily

How much does car window tinting cost?

It depends on the vehicle and how many windows you want done. As a rough guide, a rear half tint on a standard hatchback starts from around £100–£150; SUVs and vans are a bit more.

We'd rather give you an accurate price than a vague estimate — call 07796 822574 with your vehicle details and we'll get a quote to you the same day.

Is car window tinting legal in the UK?

Yes. Tinting your rear windows is completely legal and there's no limit on how dark you can go on the rear half — back windscreen, rear side windows and quarter lights included.

The only restrictions are the front windscreen (must let 75% of light through) and front side windows (70%). Most factory glass already sits right at those limits, so extra film on the fronts would be illegal. We check before we start and we'll never fit anything that puts you on the wrong side of the law.

Will tinted windows pass an MOT?

Yes. The MOT only checks light transmission on the front windscreen and front side windows. Since we tint the rear half, your car will pass with no issues.

What tint shades do you offer?

A full range of professional shades:

  • 5% (limo) — our darkest. Maximum privacy.
  • 15% — deep tint, great for kids and pets in the back.
  • 20% — our most popular. Privacy without losing visibility.
  • 35% — medium, subtle, factory-tint look.
  • 50% — light and sleek.
  • 70% — the darkest legally allowed on front windows.
How long does it take?

Most vehicles are done in two to three hours depending on size and window count. Drop the car off and we'll let you know as soon as it's ready — the workshop is just off the A46 so it's easy to get to.

Do your tints come with a guarantee?

Every tint comes with a lifetime guarantee covering bubbling, peeling, fading and discolouration. If anything goes wrong with the film we'll sort it, no questions asked.

We only use high-quality professional film, so the cheap purple-fade you see on budget tints simply doesn't happen.

Does tinting reduce heat inside the car?

Significantly. Tint blocks a large amount of solar heat, which means a cooler cabin, less strain on the air conditioning and better fuel economy. It also blocks up to 99% of UV rays, protecting your skin and stopping the interior fading and cracking.

How long before I can put my windows down?

Keep them up for at least 15 days so the film cures and bonds properly. If you absolutely have to open one in an emergency it won't peel off instantly, but the longer you leave them the better the final result.

Can old window tint be removed?

Yes, but leave it to a professional — DIY removal often damages the glass or leaves a sticky adhesive residue that's a nightmare to clean off. If you've had a bad job done elsewhere we can strip it cleanly and retint the car properly.
